To enable ssh support, you simply need to edit the configuration scripts to launch the ssh daemon.

  1. Go to the ESXi console and press alt+F1
  2. Type: unsupported
  3. Enter the root password
  4. Edit /etc/inetd.conf
  5. Uncomment the line that starts with “#ssh”
  6. Save the file and exit
  7. Restart the management service: “/sbin/services.sh restart”
